strangely, have no idea how i got here. think i saw it first after the stuff you put up after 26/11. was riveted by your graphic treatment of ideas as opposed to just writing them, which is what we do. went back to your blog just now to see if i could remember how i got there, but still clueless. sorry for the unasked for editing, but since you were writing to a british chappie, about english, thought i must intervene... taaki hamaara naak nahin katey.
no, am afraid not. lazy. or may be performance anxiety. i had one. then a friend who i'd lost touch with visited, and read, and said, this is not the alpana i know... that was scary. much better to read other people's genius now instead of worrying about how many page visits i had today. as it is have just about kept myself alive on facebook. read a superb piece in wired - this guy wrote about the importance of losing touch. and that facebook-like social networking sites should allow old friends, who we "accept" but don't really stay in touch with, to fade away, digitally. like old photographs. now it's like you can't ever lose touch with people but don't have much to say to them after the first conversation about their spouse, job, dog, kitchen sink, ha ha...
you write well. very very well. you dont have to keep a blog to write, you know? you should just write. keep a diary. anything. napkins.anything to record the amusings of a humdrum existence.
on a different note, how do i find you on facebook?
sorry meant to write back, but got side-tracked trying to fish out my blog. found it. so embarrassing. thanks for the vote of confidence on the writing - another recent wired piece talked about how everyone's a stand-up comedian these days and comedy has become the new currency. on facebook, i go through phases and have recently had the surreal experience of having my mother (!!) add me as a friend. but well. it's alpana lath bombay
